Michael Wesch's lecture

Hi Leo

I watch the youtube video on Social Media teaching and learning passed on to me from William and Marc. He lectured at the University of Manitoba on June 17, 2008. I just start to think that learning through sharing ie blogging, tagging etc would be very interesting. We will have immediate and millions of information. In future the dictionary might have to delete the words teachers and students because both of them will be at the same level as far as computer technology is concerned. the world is changing. My grandmother, if she was alive, would have been so shocked. All the tools she had in those days were only a slate, a pencil and a teacher who stood in front of the class with all her authority.

That's my posting today and that's what I predict for what is going to happen in future. Learning and teaching without any authority!

Leigh's homework

I had a browse on one of your bookmarks and I find an article on 10 ways of changing the world through social Media quite interesting. Some of the ways we can do help change the world are hosting a social media event, travel the world and publish a collective, simultaneous blog post on a universal topic.

This is quite a new post created by Max Gladwell, published on 12 May 2009.

My week

To Leo

My week has been very busy as usual. It seems to be more busy all the time. I teach my students in the mornings snd soetimes in the afternoons. There are lots of things to do apart from teaching. Today I left work at 5.30 pm inthe pouring rain. I had to wear gumboots to work this morning. On the news, there was hail and probably snow on Papamoa beach in Tauranga. The weather has been very cold, but I have trained myself not to think of the weather but to keep going.

My weekend is also very busy because I am building the house. The builder has gone to Stewart island for a hunting weekend and has left us to clean the mess made by the concrete pourers.

I do appreciate, though, that I am welll and can stand up and paint my garage.

William and Jean Gordon

I noticed that you two are my followers. I am not sure yet how to go about followers. I guess Leigh blackall will tell me next Tuesday.

My students can create their own blogs

It's exciting to be able to transfer my knowledge of blogging I learned last night to my students. From now on I hope that I can read their blogs. I also think that this is a way for my students to improve English and to exchange ideas.

Blog Practice

Hi Leo

I think Leigh Blackall is a very good teacher. Last night Ireally enjoyed creating my blog for the first time. It's a good feeling to learn what you think is complicated. It is not as complicated as I think. I did two posts last night and I am trying the third one. I am a slow learner. It takes me much longer than anyone else to learn something new, especially in the field of computer. I will keep writing to you Leo until I can do the blog well. Then I will use my blog with my students. Perhaps I can teach them to create a blog like what I am doing.
